Introduction

The library will attempt to provide services for MMA Distance Learning faculty and students equivalent to those available on-campus. These may include:

• Loan of circulating MMA library materials by mail (when feasible— U.S. only)
• Provision of copies of journal articles, by mail or electronically
• Provision of copies of Reserve readings, by mail or electronically
• Access to online databases and electronic books (as license agreements allow—not all will be available)
• Interlibrary loan privileges (when feasible-- U.S. only for book loans)
• Reference/research assistance through the “email reference questions” link on the library website, or by telephone
• Other library/information literacy instruction through links on the library website

Using Databases off Campus

Please understand that because of licensing agreements and compatability issues, not all of Nutting Memorial Library's databases are available to off campus users. Responsibilities of Distance Learning Borrowers

Students are responsible for materials from the time received until they are safely returned to the library. This applies to both MMA-owned and interlibrary loan items. Failure to return materials on time could result in charges (as with on-site borrowers), and could include loss of the privilege to borrow in the future. The library covers costs of shipping to the borrower. All costs of return shipping are the responsibility of the borrower. (Book Rate shipping with appropriate insurance is recommended.)

Distance Learning students should be aware that it may be more efficient for them to use resources at local college and public libraries, including interlibrary loan and online database services, due to the time required to process requests and ship materials from Nutting Memorial Library.
